Whether it’s for short-term rehab stay or a permanent change of residence, consider making Divine Providence your first choice.
With Lake Sleepy Eye to the west and gardens all around, the inviting views add to the peace and beauty of our Home. With friendly and caring staff, engaging activities, delicious meals and a spacious campus, our residents tell us that “if you can’t be home, it’s the best place to be.”
Family Time
Divine Providence Home was designed with family in mind. Many spaces were created for visiting throughout our Home. At this time, however, we are not able to welcome families and friends in doors, but we are happy and eager to help coordinate Window Visits for our Grand-friends. Our Beauty Shop has been transformed into the Visiting Window Room, and visits to resident room windows can be arranged, as well. Please contact our Activities Department to facilitate a window visit with your loved one.
Accommodations
To accomodate budget and preference, Divine Providence offers single and double rooms. Single rooms include a private half-bath room (sink and toilet). Double rooms have a shared half-bath with a private sink and vanity for each resident, and a privacy curtain to divide the room. Staggered framing architecture adds to the sense of privacy. Residents are welcome to decorate their rooms with family photos, favorite quilts and wall hangings or similar items. At present, all new residents are placed in a private room for 14 days or longer as a Risk Mitigation Measure related to the pandemic.
Person-Centered Care
We all value personal independence, and making choices is an important part of maintaining that sense of independence. Residents at Divine Providence are encouraged to maintain their normal daily routine as much as possible. When to get up and when to retire, whether to take a relaxing whirlpool bath or a quick shower, whether to engage in favorite activities or pull back for some cherished personal time are just some of the choices that keep our residents in the driver’s seat.
Additional Services
Since getting out in the community can be more challenging in our older years, Divine Providence Home offers many services that bring the community to our campus. During the COVID pandemic, many of our services have been temporarily discontinued (following guidelines and recommendations from the Minnesota Department of Health). While our Beauty Shop is Closed, our Nursing and Activities staff put on a new hat and help our residents with trims and styles. Staff also help Residents to shop for requested items or to coordinate with families to have these items brought in.
Moving In
If you or someone you love is in need of skilled nursing care, we invite you to view our Virtual Tour video on our homepage. Then give us a call. We’ll be happy to answer your questions and discuss residential options for today or for the future.
Our admission process begins with a doctor’s referral stating that long-term care is necessary or suitable. Our Interdisciplinary team reviews the referral to ensure our ability to provide the care that is needed. The next step is to review our admission packet. Our packet includes information you’ll need about Resident Rights , Medical Assistance, Community based supports and more. Our Resident Handbook provides information specific to Divine Providence, as well as the many forms requesting information that will help us tailor your care — as much as possible — to your personal preferences.

My mom can now get herself to her beauty shop appointments. She is more independent than when she lived at home.
